Director of Intellectual Property


The University of Chicago Press is seeking a Director of Intellectual Property for our Books and Journals Divisions. The responsibilities include: Managing, developing, revising, and overseeing all licensing policies and initiatives pertaining to Press-owned content. This includes the contracts and permissions programs of the Press. Responsible for growth and maintenance of IP licensing opportunities that are key revenue generators for the Press. Identifies and pursues new channels for rights licensing, including but not limited to international translation and use rights, digital licensing, copyright permissions, audio and dramatic rights, translations, course use and online educational initiatives, co-publication exports, and library aggregates. Routinely assesses Press's contracts in light of best practices in IP management to ensure that the Press is managing its assets as aggressively and successfully as possible.
