Production Manager


The University of Virginia Press has an exciting opportunity for an experienced book professional. We are seeking a Production Manager to oversee the production of approximately 70 new titles a year as well as reprints. The incumbent will be responsible for setting and maintaining schedules and budgets and for overseeing the work of outside vendors in close coordination with department colleagues. Candidates must have a strong command of print book production and manufacturing and a solid understanding of typography and layout. Organizational/planning and communication skills are essential, with the ability to demonstrate agility under tight deadlines and in changing publishing environments.

A successful candidate will have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in professional book publishing and strong technical skills using Excel and databases, as well as an understanding of Adobe Creative Suite and XML/ePubs. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. The position is a full-time, University staff position.
