Description

The University of Nevada Press seeks a Marketing and Sales Manager. This position
is responsible for devising and implementing marketing, sales, and publicity strategies to increase impact, visibility, and sales at the University of Nevada Press. The Manager is responsible for analyzing markets and identifying the proper audiences to market publications for sales and working directly with sales reps, wholesalers, local outlets, librarians, authors, and relevant stakeholders to develop and maintain successful partnerships. The incumbent will write copy and press releases, maintain metadata, design ads, attend conferences, conduct sales calls, and oversee the Press’s digital presence, including the website and social media. The position serves a critical role in generating revenues and sustaining the press budget.

We’re a tight knit staff of four looking for a highly motivated and proactive self-starter who can work independently as well as collaboratively. The job calls for both big-picture strategic thinking as well as an eye for detail and successful follow-through and implementation. Strong organizational and communication skills are a must.

Over the past year the Press has doubled from 10 titles a year to 20+. We publish scholarly and general interest books about Nevada and the West, including Basque studies, Native American studies, history, mining studies, gaming studies, and literature. A primary focus going forward is environmental studies. The Press also publishes fiction and memoir.
