Harvard University invites applications for the position of Director of the Harvard University Press (HUP). The next Director will have the opportunity to create, communicate, and implement a vision that leverages the Press’s greatest strengths while seizing new opportunities in a changing landscape. The Director will lead and inspire the renowned 104-year-old Press and its dedicated staff members as the HUP embraces a new era. The new Director will demonstrate both tactical and strategic capabilities, recognizing current market opportunities while planning for long-term gains in print and digital environments.

Founded in 1913, Harvard University Press is a leading publisher of works in the natural sciences, medicine, business, humanities, and social and behavioral sciences. The Director reports to the Provost of Harvard University and oversees all staff members of the Press, including five department heads. The Director is responsible for the strategic direction and the daily operations of the Press, building on the standards of excellence synonymous with the Harvard name while constantly pursuing cutting-edge solutions for content creation and delivery, sales, marketing, and distribution.
