The member presses of AAUP publish high-quality books, journals, and reference works in all fields of scholarly endeavor from science and medicine to language and art, but they are particularly recognized as the premiere publishers of humanities and social sciences (HSS). While our members support these scholarly disciplines through their editorial programs, the Association works towards continued public, governmental, and cultural support for the humanities.
National Humanities Alliance
AAUP is a member of the National Humanities Alliance (NHA), founded in 1981 to advance national humanities policy in the areas of research, education, preservation and public programs. NHA organizes an annual Humanities Advocacy Day in Washington, DC, which AAUP supports through sponsorship and representation. The NHA Online Action Center is a great tool for supporters of the humanities in responding quickly and efficiently to policy debates. Visit the NHA website for the latest information about funding for the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), the National Historical Publications & Records Commission (NHPRC), and other humanities priorities.
